My best friend was recently diagnosed with HPV during a medical checkup at the hospital. However, she hasn't had any major illnesses before and has good immunity. I would like to ask how this infection is transmitted?

HPV, or human papillomavirus, is primarily transmitted through direct skin-to-skin contact, most commonly during sexual activity. Below are some ways HPV can be transmitted: 1. Sexual contact: Sexual activity is the main route of HPV transmission, including vaginal, anal, and oropharyngeal sex. Using condoms can reduce, but not completely eliminate, the risk of infection. 2. Skin contact: The virus may still be present on the skin even without visible warts or symptoms, and close physical contact may lead to transmission. 3. Mother-to-child transmission: In rare cases, a pregnant woman infected with HPV may pass the virus to her newborn during delivery, causing laryngeal papillomatosis. 4. Weakened immune system: Individuals with weakened immune systems, such as those with HIV/AIDS, are more susceptible to HPV infection or may have difficulty clearing existing HPV infections. Most HPV infections resolve on their own without causing symptoms, but certain types can lead to serious diseases such as cervical cancer, anal cancer, and oral cancer. Therefore, understanding and preventing HPV is crucial.
