Cervical erosion is not actually a disease, but rather a term used to describe the appearance of the cervix. It refers to the replacement of the squamous epithelium on the cervical surface by columnar epithelium, giving the cervix a red, granular appearance that can easily be mistaken for true inflammation. Cervical ectopy itself has minimal impact on pregnancy and generally does not constitute a major obstacle to conception. However, there are several situations that require attention:

1. If cervical erosion is caused by chronic cervicitis due to pathogens such as Chlamydia trachomatis, these pathogens may spread to the pelvic cavity, potentially leading to conditions like hydrosalpinx, which in turn can cause tubal infertility.

2. Severe cervical lesions, such as cervical polyps or cervical hypertrophy, may also have some impact on pregnancy.

3. Scarring resulting from physical treatments (e.g., laser, microwave, or cryotherapy) may cause cervical stiffness, which could affect conception and delivery.

For women planning pregnancy, if there are cervical-related symptoms, it is recommended to undergo a detailed gynecological examination and receive treatment when necessary, to ensure cervical health and improve the chances of conception.
