Patellar synovitis is a common joint disease, mainly characterized by an inflammatory response in the synovial tissue inside the knee joint, leading to joint swelling, pain, and restricted movement. The synovium is a thin, smooth layer of tissue that lines the inner wall of the joint cavity; its function is to secrete lubricating fluid to reduce friction during joint movement. When the synovium is stimulated by factors such as infection, injury, or overuse, inflammation can occur, resulting in synovitis.

Treatment methods:

1. Medication: Commonly used drugs include nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), such as celecoxib capsules and loxoprofen sodium tablets. These medications can control inflammation and relieve pain. Additionally, joint protectants and muscle relaxants may be used to improve joint function and alleviate muscle tension.

2. Physical therapy: Treatments such as hot compresses, cold compresses, massage, manipulation, and ultrasound can promote blood circulation, relieve pain, enhance muscle strength, and improve joint range of motion.

3. Intra-articular injection: Under medical guidance, injections of medications such as corticosteroids may be administered directly into the joint cavity to rapidly reduce inflammation and pain. Furthermore, sodium hyaluronate injections can increase joint lubrication and improve joint function.

4. Surgical treatment: If conservative treatments are ineffective or there is severe joint structural damage, surgical treatment may be considered. Surgical options include arthroscopic debridement to remove damaged synovial tissue and debris, and joint replacement surgery for severe joint destruction.

If discomfort occurs, timely medical consultation is recommended. Medication should be taken under the guidance of a qualified physician.
