Pelvic inflammatory disease (PID) refers to the inflammation of a woman's fallopian tubes, ovaries, and surrounding tissues. Common symptoms include lower abdominal pain, fever, and pain during sexual intercourse. Treatment methods are as follows:

1. Drug therapy: Commonly used medications include antibiotics for anti-inflammatory and antibacterial effects, such as broad-spectrum antibiotics combined with nitroimidazoles. Traditional Chinese medicine options, such as Yin Qiao Jie Du Tang and Niuhuang Jie Du Pian, can promote blood circulation to remove blood stasis and clear heat to detoxify. When using antibiotics, be aware of potential side effects such as nausea, vomiting, and allergic reactions; skin testing is required before medication administration.

2. Physical therapy: Treatments such as laser, microwave, and iontophoresis may be used when the condition is severe or medications are ineffective. Shortwave, ultrashort wave, and infrared radiation therapies are also options, although they should not be used when body temperature is excessively high.

3. Surgical treatment: Surgery is required if conservative treatment for acute PID is ineffective, or if chronic PID remains unresolved for a long time with complications such as hydrosalpinx.

4. General care: Bed rest is necessary, and a semi-recumbent position helps localize pus accumulation. Cold compresses with ice packs can be applied for high fever. Personal hygiene should also be maintained, and unnecessary gynecological examinations should be avoided to prevent the spread of infection.

5. Dietary regulation: Soups such as Angelica and Ginger Lamb Soup, and Honeysuckle, Winter Melon, and Coix Seed Soup can help replenish qi and nourish the blood, clear heat, and detoxify.
