Dr. Tian Hongbo

Sinoatrial nodal reentrant tachycardia is a type of arrhythmia primarily characterized by abnormal electrical activity in the sinoatrial node region of the heart, leading to an abnormally rapid heart rate. This type of tachycardia usually occurs in the upper chambers of the heart (atria), particularly near the sinoatrial node. Patients may experience the following symptoms:

1. Palpitations: A sensation of the heart beating abnormally fast or irregularly.

2. Dizziness and chest tightness: Due to the increased heart rate and insufficient cardiac output, there may be inadequate blood supply to organs, resulting in feelings of dizziness and chest tightness.

3. Syncope: In severe cases, especially when cerebral blood flow is significantly reduced or the tachycardia suddenly stops, patients may experience fainting.

4. Duration: Each episode can vary in duration, ranging from several seconds to several hours.

5. Heart rate changes: During an episode, the patient's heart rate increases significantly, typically ranging from 100 to 200 beats per minute, with an average of approximately 130 beats per minute.

If related symptoms occur, prompt medical attention is recommended.
