Disease description:

I've been having recurring pain inside my right ribcage recently. The pain comes in episodes—it can be mild at times but more severe at others. The pain seems to worsen particularly during deep breathing or when I twist my body. I'm quite concerned now—what could be causing this?

Pain inside the right ribs is commonly caused by:

1. Trauma: If the right rib area has been subjected to external impact or collision recently, such as in a car accident or fall, it may result in rib fractures or soft tissue injuries, leading to pain. This type of pain is usually localized to the injured area and may be accompanied by symptoms such as swelling and bruising.

2. Muscle or soft tissue injury: Overuse, vigorous exercise, or incorrect posture may cause muscle strains or sprains, including intercostal muscle injuries.

3. Gallbladder disease: Gallbladder-related conditions such as cholecystitis and gallstones can cause upper right abdominal pain, which may radiate to the right shoulder or back and may be mistaken for internal rib pain.

4. Liver disease: Liver conditions such as hepatitis, cirrhosis, or liver tumors may also cause pain inside the right ribs. Liver disease is usually accompanied by abnormal liver function, jaundice, ascites, and other symptoms.

5.Lung cancer: As a tumor grows and exerts pressure on surrounding tissues, it may also cause pain inside the right ribs. Lung diseases are typically accompanied by symptoms such as coughing, sputum production, and shortness of breath.

6.Kidney stones: Kidney problems such as kidney stones may also cause flank pain, particularly on the right side.

If the pain persists, it is recommended to seek medical attention at a hospital immediately.
