Does eating persimmons easily lead to weight gain?
I've had too many social engagements recently and gained a lot of weight, so I've decided to go on a diet. I saw someone selling persimmons today and felt like eating one. May I ask if eating persimmons tends to cause weight gain?
The caloric content of persimmons themselves is not very high, with approximately 71 calories per 100 grams, which is relatively low compared to other fruits.
Persimmons are rich in dietary fiber, vitamins, and minerals, such as vitamin C, potassium, and magnesium, all of which are highly beneficial for maintaining good health. Dietary fiber also helps promote intestinal motility, aids digestion, and prevents constipation. Persimmons have a relatively high sugar content, mainly glucose and fructose, which can be rapidly absorbed in the intestines and may lead to a quick increase in blood sugar levels.
If persimmons are consumed in moderation as part of a balanced diet, and overall caloric intake remains in equilibrium with energy expenditure, eating persimmons is unlikely to cause weight gain. However, if one has already consumed sufficient calories and then consumes large additional amounts of high-sugar fruits such as persimmons, it may result in excessive calorie intake, potentially leading to weight gain.
Diabetic patients should carefully control their intake of high-sugar foods. If you have any health concerns, it is recommended to consult a physician.
