Disease description:

I experienced a sudden stomach pain around noon today, and have been feeling bloated or burning pain constantly, eventually vomiting quite a bit. I checked online and think it might be caused by stomach cramps. I would like to ask, if it's stomach cramps, what are the symptoms and manifestations?

Gastric spasm, medically referred to as involuntary contraction of the stomach muscles, presents with the following main symptoms and signs:

1. Abdominal pain: This is the most typical symptom. The pain is usually located in the upper or middle upper abdomen and may intensify intermittently, sometimes becoming severe enough to be intolerable.

2. Nausea and vomiting: Patients may experience nausea and episodes of vomiting, particularly after eating.

3. Bloating: Abnormal contractions of the stomach muscles may cause gas accumulation in the stomach, leading to a sensation of fullness and discomfort.

4. Loss of appetite: Persistent stomach discomfort can reduce appetite and affect normal eating habits.

5. Indigestion: This manifests as prolonged retention of food in the stomach, causing abdominal discomfort and a feeling of fullness.

6. Diarrhea or constipation: Although not all patients with gastric spasms experience these symptoms, in some cases, overall gastrointestinal motility may be affected, leading to changes in bowel habits.

When these symptoms occur, prompt medical attention is advised.
