How to treat bone ischemia

Bone ischemia, also known as avascular necrosis of the bone or osteonecrosis, is a disease caused by insufficient blood supply to the bone, resulting in bone cell death. The following are some common treatment methods:

1. Conservative treatment: For patients in early stages or with mild symptoms, measures such as activity restriction, use of walking aids, and physical therapy may be adopted to reduce stress on the affected area and promote natural recovery.

2. Medication therapy: Vasodilators, anticoagulants, hormones, or blood-activating and stasis-resolving medications, such as Hengu Gu Shang Jie Yuan Ji (a traditional Chinese medicine formulation) and Dibazol tablets, may be used to improve blood circulation, reduce inflammatory responses, and prevent disease progression.

4. Surgical treatment: Patients with severe disease or those who do not respond to conservative treatment may require surgery. Surgical options include core decompression of the femoral head, bone grafting, and hip joint replacement. Hip joint replacement is a commonly performed procedure that can improve joint function and relieve pain.
