How to Recover Quickly from a Sprained Waist
I accidentally strained my waist while moving house; how can I recover quickly?
Low back strain is mainly manifested by symptoms such as low back pain and restricted movement.
1. Immediate rest: Avoid any activities that may exacerbate the burden on the lower back. Rest in a comfortable position to reduce pressure on the injured area.
2. Cold compress treatment: Within the first 48-72 hours after injury, apply an ice pack or cold compress to the affected area for 15-20 minutes each time, 3-4 times daily, to help reduce inflammation and swelling.
3. Appropriate heat application: After 48 hours, if pain and swelling begin to subside, switch to heat therapy to promote blood circulation and accelerate the recovery process. Each heat application should also last 15-20 minutes and can be performed multiple times daily.
4. Medication: Topical medications such as blood circulation promoting and blood stasis removing plasters (e.g., safflower oil, Yunnan Baiyao spray) can be used to relieve pain and swelling. For patients with severe pain, oral non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), such as ibuprofen capsules or celecoxib tablets, may be taken.
5. Physical therapy: During the recovery process, physical therapies such as acupuncture, massage, and manual therapy can be performed to promote recovery of the lower back muscles and functional improvement.
6. Maintain good posture: Pay attention to maintaining correct sitting and standing postures in daily life. Avoid staying in the same position for prolonged periods to reduce the risk of re-injury to the lower back.
