Disease description:

Recently, I bought a lot of navel oranges because I really enjoy eating them. However, my mom said there are many禁忌 (taboos/restrictions) to be aware of. I would like to know, what foods should not be consumed with navel oranges?

Navel oranges should not be consumed together with the following foods:

1. Milk and other dairy products: The acidic components in navel oranges can combine with proteins in dairy products to form clumps that are difficult to digest, possibly causing indigestion.

2. Soy products: The plant proteins in soy products may interact with vitamin C in navel oranges, potentially affecting protein digestion and absorption.

3. Animal liver: Animal liver is rich in copper, and high doses of copper may inhibit the body's absorption of iron. The vitamin C in navel oranges promotes iron absorption, so consuming them together may counteract each other's effects.

4. Seafood: Some seafood contains arsenic, which is typically harmless pentavalent arsenic. However, under the influence of vitamin C, it may be converted into toxic trivalent arsenic. Although the risk of this conversion is very low under normal dietary conditions, caution is still advised.

5. Pork: The tannins in navel oranges may also bind with proteins in pork to form substances that are difficult to digest, potentially causing nausea, abdominal pain, and other symptoms.
