When does fetal movement start?
I'm an expectant mother who pays close attention to pregnancy-related knowledge. I would like to know in which month fetal movements typically begin?

Fetal movement refers to the activity of the fetus within the uterus, and it is a direct way for pregnant women to perceive the presence of the fetus.
Fetal movements generally begin between the 16th and 25th weeks of pregnancy, with most women feeling their first fetal movement around the 20th week. This initial sensation is also called "first fetal movement" or "quickening."
For women pregnant with their first child, fetal movements may not be felt until the 20th week of pregnancy or even later. This is because the abdominal muscles of primiparous women are relatively tight, making them less sensitive to fetal movements.
For multiparous women who have previously given birth, the abdominal muscles tend to be more relaxed and their experience makes them more aware of fetal movements. Hence, they may feel fetal movements earlier, sometimes as early as around the 16th week.
In the beginning, fetal movements may feel subtle, like the gentle flapping of a butterfly's wings or the swimming of a small fish in water. As the pregnancy progresses and the fetus grows larger and stronger, the movements become more forceful and frequent, and the pregnant woman can distinctly feel actions such as the fetus kicking or rolling.
If a pregnant woman has not felt any fetal movement by the 20th week, it is recommended that she consult her doctor for an examination.
