What causes numbness in both hands?
After taking a nap with my arms lying on the table, I felt my hands become numb when I stood up, but the numbness improved after a brief massage. Why do both hands become numb?

Possible causes of numbness in both hands:
1. Nerve compression: Maintaining the same posture for prolonged periods, such as extended use of computers or mobile phones, or having the arms compressed during sleep, may lead to nerve compression and cause hand numbness. Symptoms often improve after changing posture or resting.
2. Hand nerve disorders: Conditions such as brachial plexus nerve injury, carpal tunnel syndrome, and cubital tunnel syndrome may cause hand numbness due to nerve compression or damage.
3. Central nervous system diseases: Conditions such as stroke and radiculopathy caused by cervical spondylosis may affect nerve conduction and lead to hand numbness.
4. Rheumatic diseases: Conditions such as multiple sclerosis and systemic lupus erythematosus may also cause hand numbness.
5. Diabetes: High blood sugar levels can damage nerves in the body, especially peripheral nerves, leading to numbness in the hands and feet. Diabetic patients should regularly monitor blood glucose levels, control their diet, and prevent complications.
6. Vitamin B12 deficiency: Vitamin B12 is an essential nutrient for maintaining nervous system health. Deficiency may lead to neuropathy and cause hand numbness. Supplementing with foods or medications rich in vitamin B12 can help alleviate symptoms.
