Patients with gastric ulcers can run, but the duration should be less than 30 minutes, and they should avoid sprinting. Low-intensity exercises such as jogging or walking are recommended.

During the remission phase of a gastric ulcer, mild and short-duration jogging may be chosen. However, prolonged running or high-speed running should be avoided to prevent exacerbation of gastric mucosal congestion and edema, which may worsen stomach pain. If a patient is in the active phase of the disease, such as experiencing ulcer-related pain, bleeding, or complications like perforation, strenuous activities like running should be avoided. Intense physical activity may aggravate gastric discomfort and potentially trigger acute complications. Once the condition stabilizes, especially during the ulcer healing phase, patients may engage in moderate aerobic exercises such as jogging, walking, or hiking. These activities not only enhance physical fitness and improve immunity but also promote gastrointestinal motility, aid in the recovery of digestive system function, improve systemic blood circulation, and boost overall immune function.

It is recommended that patients with gastric ulcers choose suitable forms of exercise according to their individual physical condition and gradually increase the intensity of activity while avoiding excessive fatigue. Additionally, lifestyle adjustments should include dietary regulation, and exercise should be avoided either on an empty stomach or immediately after a meal to prevent irritation to the gastric mucosa and interference with ulcer healing.
