Fruits That Chemotherapy Patients Should Avoid
Because of health reasons, chemotherapy is needed now, and two sessions have already been completed. During this period, there are many禁忌 (contraindications/restrictions). I would like to ask, which fruits are not suitable for patients undergoing chemotherapy?
During chemotherapy, the following types of fruits should be avoided:
1. Fruits that commonly cause allergies: such as mangoes, kiwifruit, etc., which may trigger allergic reactions and worsen discomfort in chemotherapy patients.
2. Heaty fruits: it is not recommended to consume heaty fruits such as durian, lychee, longan, etc., as they may exacerbate internal heat symptoms and be detrimental to disease management.
3. High-fiber fruits: such as strawberries, plums, grapes, etc., while high-fiber fruits are generally beneficial for health, excessive consumption may increase gastrointestinal burden for patients who may experience gastrointestinal sensitivity or weakened intestinal function after chemotherapy.
4. Fruits with damaged surfaces or not thoroughly washed: chemotherapy can lower the patient's immunity, so it is essential to ensure fruits are thoroughly cleaned before consumption to avoid bacterial or viral infections.
5. Alkaline fruits: such as pomelo, which may interact with chemotherapy medications, affecting drug effectiveness, and therefore should be consumed with caution.
In addition, maintaining good eating habits and avoiding raw, cold, spicy, and irritating foods can help alleviate discomfort caused by chemotherapy.
