How to treat a sprained waist
I accidentally sprained my waist, and now I'm experiencing severe pain. The pain intensifies with even slight movement, and it's very difficult to bend over or turn my body. I've tried to rest as much as possible, but still feel significant pain. I'd like to know how to recover as soon as possible after spraining the waist. Are there any particularly effective treatments?
Low back sprain is a common sports injury or damage caused by improper posture, overexertion, and other factors in daily life. The following are some commonly used treatment methods:
1. Immediate rest: Avoid any activities that may aggravate the injury, maintain bed rest, and reduce pressure on the lower back.
2. Cold compress therapy: Within the first 48 hours after the sprain, apply an ice pack to the affected area for 20 minutes every 2-3 hours to reduce pain and swelling.
3. Appropriate heat application: After 48 hours, switch to heat therapy to promote blood circulation and accelerate recovery. However, ensure the temperature is not too high to avoid burns.
4. Medication: During bed rest, topical analgesic and muscle relaxant ointments can be used, such as diclofenac sodium gel or Yunnan Baiyao spray. If the pain is severe, oral non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), such as ibuprofen capsules or diclofenac sodium sustained-release capsules, may also be taken.
5. Physical therapy: After the sprain symptoms subside, appropriate physical therapies can be conducted, such as manual realignment, infrared therapy, local massage, and acupuncture, to speed up recovery.
6. Gradual resumption of activities: Once the pain decreases, gradually start mild activities, avoid maintaining the same posture for prolonged periods, and perform some low-back strengthening exercises to enhance muscular support.
