Can white vinegar treat hemorrhoids?
My grandmother found a folk remedy somewhere, claiming that white vinegar can treat hemorrhoids. I'm skeptical about it. Can white vinegar actually treat hemorrhoids?

White vinegar, as a commonly used household item, mainly consists of acetic acid and possesses certain antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties. However, this does not mean it is suitable for all skin conditions:
1. White vinegar has antibacterial and bacteriostatic effects, because its main component, acetic acid, can inhibit bacteria such as Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus. This characteristic enables white vinegar to exert certain anti-inflammatory effects in the treatment of hemorrhoids.
2. White vinegar also has detoxifying, blood-stasis-dispersing, hemostatic properties, as well as anti-inflammatory and pain-relieving effects. These characteristics may help relieve symptoms caused by hemorrhoids, such as rectal bleeding and anal distension pain.
3. However, white vinegar is highly irritating and its direct application to the sensitive perianal area may worsen symptoms, causing pain, irritation, or even mucosal damage, especially when the skin is broken or has open wounds, in which case its use should be avoided.
4. Hemorrhoid treatment should follow scientific methods; mild hemorrhoids can be relieved through lifestyle improvements, dietary adjustments, and the use of specific ointments; severe hemorrhoids may require surgical treatment.
White vinegar can have certain auxiliary effects in treating hemorrhoids, but it cannot directly cure hemorrhoids.
