Pain in the armpit and rib area may be caused by various factors, including but not limited to muscle or soft tissue injuries, rib fractures, intercostal neuralgia, and internal organ diseases. Below are some common management suggestions:

1. Initial assessment: Evaluate whether there is a history of trauma, such as collisions or falls. Observe the nature of the pain, its duration, and any accompanying symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, or difficulty breathing.

2. Physical examination: Check the armpit and rib areas by palpation for obvious tenderness, swelling, or abnormal protrusions. Observe the patient's breathing pattern to determine if there is restricted chest movement.

3. Daily care: Avoid strenuous activities that may exacerbate the pain. Keep warm and avoid getting chilled. Apply local cold or heat compresses to help relieve pain and reduce swelling.

4. Medication: If the pain is severe, oral nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), such as ibuprofen capsules or diclofenac sodium sustained-release capsules, may be taken. If the pain is caused by an infection, such as lymphadenitis or pleurisy, antibiotics are required.

Rib pain under the armpit can be caused by various factors. If the pain persists or worsens, it is recommended to seek immediate medical examination and treatment at a hospital.
