During pregnancy, especially in the late stages such as around 34 weeks, many expectant mothers may experience symptoms of excess stomach acid and heartburn. This is due to hormonal changes in the body during pregnancy, particularly an increase in progesterone, which causes relaxation of the lower esophageal sphincter, allowing stomach acid to reflux into the esophagus and cause a burning sensation. Additionally, as the fetus grows, pressure from the uterus on the stomach can worsen these symptoms. To alleviate this situation, the following measures can be taken:

1. Adjust eating habits: It is recommended to eat smaller, more frequent meals to avoid excessive stomach distension caused by overeating at one time. Easily digestible foods such as toasted bread, millet porridge, and steamed egg custard can be consumed in moderation. Avoid greasy, high-sugar foods such as fatty meats, desserts, and fried fish. Limit intake of foods high in sugar, such as cakes and chocolates, as they may stimulate gastric acid secretion.

2. Change body position: Do not lie down immediately after meals; remain upright for at least 2 hours. Elevate the head with pillows while sleeping to reduce the chance of acid reflux.

3. Gentle massage: After warming the hands by rubbing them together, alternately massage around the navel in clockwise and counterclockwise directions to help relieve stomach discomfort.
