Patients with chronic enteritis are not advised to drink wine.

Chronic enteritis refers to a disease in which the intestines remain in an inflamed state for a prolonged period. Common symptoms include abdominal pain and diarrhea. Severe cases may be accompanied by problems such as indigestion and impaired nutrient absorption. Alcohol—even the low concentration found in wine—may irritate the already damaged intestinal mucosa, exacerbate the inflammatory response, and affect the recovery of intestinal function. The alcohol in wine can easily irritate the mucous membranes of the gastrointestinal tract, increasing intestinal motility and potentially worsening diarrhea. Furthermore, wine also contains a certain amount of tannins and other polyphenolic substances. While these components are beneficial to the body when consumed in moderation, excessive intake or consumption by individuals with digestive disorders such as enteritis may cause gastrointestinal discomfort and even aggravate inflammatory symptoms.

Therefore, patients with chronic enteritis should avoid spicy, stimulating, raw, cold, hard-to-digest, and overly greasy foods, as well as habits such as smoking and drinking alcohol, all of which may exacerbate symptoms. In addition to dietary adjustments, patients with chronic enteritis also require medical treatment, such as the use of medications like norfloxacin and montmorillonite powder, to control inflammation and alleviate symptoms.
