What causes abdominal bloating and pain?
I have been feeling unwell in my stomach all day today, experiencing a sensation of soreness and distension in the lower abdomen. I have little appetite. I would like to know what might be causing these symptoms?
Abdominal bloating and pain can be categorized into the following causes:
1. Digestive system diseases: This is one of the most common causes, including gastritis, gastric ulcer, duodenal ulcer, cholecystitis, gallstones, pancreatitis, enteritis, intestinal obstruction, appendicitis, and others. These conditions are often accompanied by other digestive symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, or constipation.
2. Urinary system issues: Kidney stones, cystitis, ureteral infections, and other urinary tract problems also can cause abdominal pain, usually accompanied by symptoms such as frequent urination, urgency, and painful urination.
3. Gynecological diseases: In women, ovarian cysts, uterine fibroids, pelvic inflammatory disease, ectopic pregnancy, and other gynecological conditions are common causes of abdominal bloating and pain.
4. Male reproductive system diseases: Conditions such as testicular torsion and prostatitis also may cause lower abdominal pain.
5. Accumulation of intestinal gas: Improper diet, excessive swallowing of air, and intestinal flora imbalance can all lead to gas accumulation in the intestines, causing abdominal bloating and pain.
If abdominal bloating and pain persist or worsen, prompt medical attention is recommended.
