Disease description:

Recently, I've noticed that my fingertips tend to peel, and sometimes they feel slightly painful. This condition has persisted for some time and has caused me great distress. I have tried using hand cream and moisturizers, but there seems to be little improvement. I would like to know what is causing this.

Peeling skin on the fingers accompanied by pain may be caused by factors such as dry skin, eczema, fungal infections, or contact dermatitis. Excessively dry skin is a common cause, especially during autumn and winter when air humidity is low. Without proper hand moisturizing, peeling and pain can easily occur. Additionally, eczema can also be a contributing factor. When fingers are exposed to chemicals such as dishwashing detergent or laundry detergent for prolonged periods, eczema may be triggered, leading to peeling skin and a prickling sensation.

It is recommended that patients regularly use fragrance-free moisturizing creams or lotions, especially applying them immediately after washing hands, to help lock in moisture and reduce contact with substances that may irritate the skin, such as cleansers and detergents. Wearing gloves for protection during such tasks is also advised. At the same time, increasing intake of vitamins E and C, either through diet or oral supplements, can help maintain skin health and promote skin repair. If symptoms persist or worsen, prompt medical attention is recommended.
