Dry facial skin is a common skin issue with various causes. The following are several common reasons and explanations:

1. Environmental factors: Environmental factors are among the main triggers. Low humidity, cold winds, air conditioning, and heating can all accelerate water evaporation from the skin, causing the skin to lose moisture and become dry.

2. Skin type: Individuals have different skin types. People with naturally dry skin tend to have reduced sebum production from sebaceous glands, and their skin barrier may be compromised, leading to increased trans-epidermal water loss. Improper skincare habits, such as over-cleansing or using cosmetics and skincare products with strong irritants, can also damage the skin's natural protective layer, resulting in moisture loss.

3. Unhealthy lifestyle habits: Insufficient water intake and repeated use of alkaline facial products may damage the skin's stratum corneum, leading to moisture loss and consequently causing dry facial skin.

4. Nutritional deficiencies: A lack of nutrients such as vitamin A and B-complex vitamins may slow down skin metabolism, cause abnormal stratum corneum turnover, and reduce sebum production, thereby causing dry skin.

5. Medical conditions: Certain health conditions, such as eczema, psoriasis, or changes in hormone levels, can also lead to dry skin.

If dry skin is accompanied by severe itching, redness, or other unusual symptoms, it is recommended to seek medical attention promptly for professional diagnosis and treatment advice.
