How to improve rosacea
I have rosacea, and I find it quite unattractive. I would like to make some changes. Could you please advise on how to improve the appearance of a rosacea-affected nose?
Rosacea, also known as acne rosacea, is a common skin condition primarily characterized by facial redness, dilated capillaries, and skin eruptions. To improve rosacea, the following measures can be considered:
1. Avoidance of triggering factors is crucial. Patients should reduce intake of spicy foods and alcohol, avoid extreme temperatures (both hot and cold) and environmental irritants, practice sun protection, and refrain from using irritating cosmetics.
2. Medication therapy: Topical agents containing ingredients such as benzoyl peroxide or metronidazole may be used. Oral medications, including antibiotics and isotretinoin, can be selected according to the severity of the condition. Laser therapy is highly effective for significant vascular dilation.
3. Physical therapy: Intense pulsed light (IPL) and pulsed dye laser (PDL) treatments can improve impaired skin barrier function and redness, promote blood vessel constriction, and enhance skin elasticity. Ultraviolet light therapy may also be suitable for patients experiencing acute swelling phases of rosacea.
4. General care: Patients should avoid excessive skin cleansing in daily life, emphasize moisturizing and physical sun protection. Exposure to extreme temperatures and emotional stress should be avoided; local cold compresses may be used to relieve discomfort when necessary.
Patients are advised to undergo treatment under the guidance of a qualified physician and should not self-medicate, to prevent worsening of the condition.
