Can I eat red dates after breast augmentation surgery?
I am a 30-year-old woman who recently underwent breast augmentation surgery with implants and am currently in the recovery phase. I heard from a friend that red dates (jujubes) can help replenish blood, and I would like to eat some to aid my recovery, but I'm concerned it might affect the surgical outcome.
Prosthetic breast augmentation is a plastic surgery procedure that increases breast volume and improves breast shape by implanting prosthetic materials such as silicone. After surgery, patients need to pay special attention to diet and lifestyle habits to promote wound healing and ensure implant stability.
In the early phase following prosthetic breast augmentation, it is recommended to follow the doctor's dietary advice and avoid foods that may cause allergies or increase the risk of bleeding, including certain blood circulation-promoting foods like red dates (jujubes). Generally around 1–2 weeks post-surgery, patients may consume red dates in moderation according to their individual constitution, but excessive intake should be avoided to prevent indigestion.
Additionally, it is important to keep the wound clean and dry, disinfect and change dressings regularly to prevent bacterial infection, and avoid touching or pressing the chest area forcefully, which could lead to implant displacement or rupture. Moreover, with the doctor's guidance, appropriate breast massage may be performed to help reduce the degree of muscle fiber contraction.
