What is infertility?
My cousin has been married for over a year but has not yet become pregnant. I heard that she has an abnormality with her uterus. I would like to know what infertility is.

Generally, infertility refers to the condition where a couple fails to achieve pregnancy after one year of regular sexual intercourse without the use of any contraception.
There are numerous factors that can cause infertility. Based on the different etiologies, it can be classified into male factor infertility and female factor infertility. Male factors include low sperm count, poor sperm quality or motility, and conditions such as blocked vas deferens. Female factors include ovulatory disorders, fallopian tube problems, endometriosis, uterine fibroids, hormonal imbalances, and others.
In addition, there are also cases of unexplained infertility. Treating infertility requires comprehensive examinations to identify the specific cause, followed by targeted treatment strategies such as medication, surgical procedures, or assisted reproductive technologies like in vitro fertilization (IVF). Throughout the entire treatment process, providing psychological support and encouragement, as well as modifying lifestyle habits and behaviors, are also very important.
Couples experiencing infertility are advised to seek professional medical assistance, undergo detailed examinations to determine the underlying cause, and develop an appropriate treatment plan.
