Currently, there is no direct evidence proving that saffron causes infertility.

Saffron, also known as Crocus sativus, is a precious spice and a traditional Chinese medicine with multiple therapeutic effects. It can promote blood circulation to remove blood stasis, relieve depression, calm the mind, cool the blood, and detoxify. It is also effective in treating symptoms such as dysmenorrhea, amenorrhea, irregular menstruation, and prolonged postpartum lochia. Additionally, it can promote uterine contractions, improve female endocrine function, and enhance immune function.

However, due to its function of promoting blood circulation and removing blood stasis, excessive use of saffron by women who are planning to become pregnant or who are already pregnant may accelerate blood circulation, potentially affecting hormonal balance and even causing uterine contractions, thereby increasing the risk of miscarriage.

Therefore, women should use saffron cautiously during pregnancy and menstruation. However, this does not mean that saffron causes infertility. It merely possesses the effect of promoting blood circulation and removing blood stasis. During pregnancy, its use should be guided by one's health condition and a physician's advice to avoid unnecessary risks associated with improper use.
