What foods are good for patients with kidney cancer?
I have been diagnosed with kidney cancer and am unsure how to adjust my diet. I would like to learn which foods are beneficial for kidney cancer patients and whether there are any foods that should be avoided?

Patients with kidney cancer generally benefit from consuming high-quality protein, high-fiber foods, and foods rich in vitamin D. They also need to ensure adequate water intake.
Patients with kidney cancer need to take in sufficient protein to help the body repair itself and strengthen the immune system. Preferred sources of protein are low in fat, such as fish, chicken, turkey, soybeans, and tofu. However, note that if kidney function is abnormal, excessive protein intake should be avoided.
High-fiber foods, such as whole grains, legumes, nuts, and seeds, help maintain intestinal health, prevent constipation, and assist in weight control to avoid obesity, which is one of the risk factors for kidney cancer. Foods rich in vitamin D, such as cod liver oil, egg yolks, and mushrooms, are particularly important for cancer patients, as vitamin D helps strengthen the immune system.
In addition, patients with kidney cancer need to maintain adequate hydration to support the body's fluid balance. However, if undergoing kidney dialysis or experiencing impaired kidney function, consultation with a physician is essential. Patients should also avoid alcohol and high-sodium foods, and limit intake of sugar and refined carbohydrates.
