It is normal to experience a certain degree of swelling after hyaluronic acid filler injections, as this is a physiological response caused by localized inflammation from the injection process and the tissue's reaction to a foreign substance. In most cases, this swelling gradually subsides within a few days following the injection. Swelling can be alleviated through cold compresses, medication, or hyaluronic acid dissolving agents. However, if the swelling is severe, lasts for an unusually long time, or is accompanied by symptoms such as redness, pain, or fever, it may indicate an infection or other complications, and prompt medical evaluation is necessary.

Applying a cold compress using an ice pack or a wet towel over the swollen area for 5–10 minutes at a time can help constrict blood vessels and reduce fluid leakage into the tissues, thereby decreasing swelling. If the swelling is more severe, nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), such as ibuprofen or sodium naproxen, may be taken orally under a physician's guidance to relieve pain and swelling. In cases of suspected infection, antibiotic treatment should be administered. If the swelling is due to an allergic reaction, antiallergic medications are required.

If swelling persists or is accompanied by other uncomfortable symptoms, you should promptly contact the physician who performed the hyaluronic acid injection for further evaluation and treatment. After any cosmetic procedure, it is essential to follow the post-treatment care instructions provided by your physician to ensure a safe and effective recovery process.
