Why does the area between the left hip and waist hurt after childbirth?
I recently gave birth and have been experiencing pain in the area between my left hip and lower back. May I ask what could be causing this?

Postpartum pain between the left hip and waist may be caused by multiple factors, commonly including:
1. Exposure to cold: Failure to keep warm may cause local muscle spasms and trigger pain.
2. Poor posture: Maintaining improper posture for prolonged periods, such as frequently lying in bed or holding the baby, may lead to excessive physical fatigue and cause pain.
3. Lumbar muscle strain, lumbar disc herniation, etc.: Particularly more likely to occur when engaging in heavy physical labor or experiencing increased lumbar load during pregnancy.
4. Sciatica: Conditions such as lumbar disc herniation or spinal problems may compress the sciatic nerve, causing radiating pain from the hip down to the leg.
5. Sacroiliac joint dysfunction: During pregnancy, as the fetus grows, the body's center of gravity shifts forward. Coupled with the effects of relaxin, pressure on the sacroiliac joint increases, which may lead to joint instability or injury. This discomfort may persist after childbirth.
Postpartum women are advised to walk appropriately, avoid maintaining the same posture for long periods, pay attention to staying warm, and supplement calcium as needed. If the pain persists or worsens, timely medical attention is recommended.
