Can people with gout eat rice noodles?
Recently I've had some gout symptoms, but I feel like eating rice noodles. I was wondering, is it okay to eat rice noodles with gout?

Gout patients can eat rice noodles.
Gout is a type of crystalline arthritis caused by deposition of urate crystals around joints due to hyperuricemia. Therefore, patients need to limit their intake of purines in their diet. Rice noodles, a common staple food, mainly consist of carbohydrates and have low purine content. The purine content of 100 grams of rice noodles is about 11 mg. Thus, moderate consumption of rice noodles generally does not directly cause a significant increase in blood uric acid levels in gout patients. Moreover, rice noodles are primarily made from rice, which is a major source of carbohydrates and an important energy source in the daily diet of gout patients. Rice noodles have fewer calories than wheat flour and are considered low-glycemic-index food, making them suitable for gout patients who are obese.
However, when preparing rice noodles, avoid cooking methods involving high fat, high salt, or ingredients with high purine content, such as animal offal or seafood, to prevent indirect elevation of uric acid levels. Additionally, moderation is important to avoid excessive consumption, which may increase the gastrointestinal burden.
