Rheumatoid Arthritis: What Fruits Should Not Be Eaten
Recently, a friend of mine developed rheumatoid arthritis and I would like to buy some fruit to visit him. May I ask, what fruits should be avoided for rheumatoid arthritis?

Rheumatoid arthritis patients should avoid consuming certain types of fruits, mainly including the following:
1. Citrus fruits: such as oranges, grapefruits, which contain high levels of vitamin C and are generally considered beneficial to health. However, for some individuals allergic or sensitive to citrus fruits, excessive consumption may trigger inflammatory responses.
2. Acidic fruits: such as strawberries, kiwifruit, plums, etc., which may hinder calcium absorption, affect the recovery of rheumatoid arthritis, and thus worsen joint pain and swelling.
3. Cold-natured fruits: such as watermelon, persimmon, grapefruit, etc. Patients with rheumatoid arthritis often have weak physical conditions; consuming cold-natured fruits may cause symptoms like diarrhea and abdominal pain, which are not conducive to disease stability.
4. Tropical fruits: such as mangoes, pineapples, etc., which may cause allergic reactions, especially in individuals allergic to latex, due to the possibility of latex-fruit syndrome, whereby allergic reactions occur to some tropical fruits.
5. High-sugar fruits: such as durian, sugarcane, etc., excessive sugar intake may interfere with the body's glucose metabolism, leading to elevated blood sugar levels, thereby worsening arthritis swelling and pain.
