In general, if ear pain is caused by pressure changes in the ear due to mild forceful nose-blowing, it may resolve gradually on its own. However, if there is an underlying ear condition, such as otitis media, nose-blowing may worsen the symptoms, causing the pain to persist or intensify.

If ear pain is caused by pressure changes in the ear from mild forceful nose-blowing and the pain is mild, the ear may gradually return to normal on its own, and the pain will likely subside after stopping improper actions such as forceful nose-blowing. However, if there is an existing ear condition, such as otitis media, nose-blowing may exacerbate symptoms, leading to persistent or worsening pain.

If nose-blowing continues to be performed improperly, repeatedly irritating the ear, the pain may not only fail to resolve on its own but could also lead to more serious ear problems, such as a perforated eardrum. If the pain persists, or if there are additional symptoms such as ear fullness, hearing loss, or tinnitus, prompt medical attention is advised.

It is recommended to blow your nose correctly—avoid blowing forcefully through both nostrils simultaneously. Instead, gently blow one nostril at a time to reduce irritation to the Eustachian tube and pressure within the ears. If ear pain occurs after blowing your nose, closely monitor any changes in symptoms. If symptoms persist or worsen, seek timely medical care.
