Can applying lemon around the eyes remove dark circles?
I am 21 years old this year. Recently, I have been staying up late frequently and developed dark circles under my eyes. I heard that applying lemon slices on the eyes can help remove dark circles. Is this true?

In general, applying lemon around the eyes may have some auxiliary effect on dark circles, but it cannot completely eliminate them and carries certain risks, so caution is advised.
Lemons are rich in vitamin C, which has antioxidant properties and can promote skin metabolism and inhibit melanin formation. In theory, this may help improve dark circles caused by pigmentation. However, the effect is limited and requires long-term consistent application, and it cannot address the root causes of dark circles due to lack of sleep or genetic factors.
Lemon is highly acidic and may cause stinging, redness, or even allergic reactions when applied directly to the delicate skin around the eyes. The vitamin C in lemon may cause a photosensitive reaction when exposed to sunlight, leading to skin darkening, so it should be used only in the evening. Lemon is ineffective for dark circles caused by poor circulation or structural factors such as under-eye bags and shadows, and should be combined with other treatments.
It is recommended to maintain adequate sleep and reduce late nights; use eye creams containing caffeine, vitamin K, and other ingredients morning and night to promote blood circulation. If dark circles are severe, consult a doctor about medical treatments such as laser spot removal, microneedling, or chemical peels. Avoid excessive eye strain, and apply warm compresses regularly to relieve fatigue. Increase intake of foods rich in vitamin C and E, such as citrus fruits and nuts.
