For women with regular menstrual cycles, the week before menstruation begins and the week following its onset are considered the “safe period.” The likelihood of conception during intercourse in this period is relatively low. In women with regular cycles, ovulation typically occurs approximately 14 days before the start of the next menstrual period. Intercourse during the five days preceding ovulation and the four days following it significantly increases the chance of conception.
