It has been one month since my patellar fracture surgery—why is the surgical incision site still numb?
Disease description:
Last month, I fell off my bicycle and sustained a patellar fracture. It has been one month since my surgery, but I continue to experience numbness at the surgical site. Therefore, I would like to understand why the incision site remains numb one month after patellar fracture surgery.
It is possible that the nerves and blood vessels surrounding the surgical wound have not yet fully recovered, leading to numbness. You may visit a hospital for an electromyography (EMG) test to confirm the diagnosis. Keep the affected area warm; you can apply warm compresses using a hot towel and gently massage the surrounding area. Infrared lamp therapy may also be beneficial. Additionally, neurotrophic medications—such as vitamin B12 or vitamin B1—may be used, but these must be taken only under a physician’s guidance.
