Introduction
Flat warts are firm, whereas syringomas are soft—this is a clear distinction. Flat warts present as flat-topped papules that are skin-colored or light brown, with a firm consistency; they measure 1–3 mm (rice-grain to mung-bean size), have a smooth surface and well-defined borders, and may sometimes be arranged in a “string-of-pearls” pattern. They are typically asymptomatic. Syringoma is a hamartoma of the eccrine (small) sweat glands, occurring predominantly on the lower eyelids and cheeks, and occasionally on the chest or external genitalia.
Many people notice small, pea-sized acne-like lesions on the skin beneath their eyes—i.e., on the eyelids—or just below or outside the eyes. Medically, flat warts and syringomas are commonly considered in such cases. Both conditions have relatively common causes in daily life; however, what distinguishes flat warts from syringomas?

Flat warts present as flat, flesh-colored or light brown papules with a firm consistency, measuring 1–3 mm (rice-grain to pea-sized), smooth surface, well-defined borders, and sometimes arranged in a beaded pattern; they are typically asymptomatic. Syringomas, by contrast, are benign hamartomas of the eccrine (small) sweat glands. They most commonly occur on the lower eyelids and cheeks, but may also appear on the chest, external genitalia, and other areas. Characteristic lesions are soft, flat papules measuring 1–2 mm in diameter, usually flesh-colored or light brown.
After developing flat warts, patients should abstain from smoking and alcohol, avoid spicy or irritating foods, and consume more vitamin-rich foods—especially vitamin B6. To achieve optimal therapeutic outcomes, immunomodulatory treatments may be used alongside dietary adjustments to help prevent recurrence. Avoid indiscriminate use of corticosteroid medications; do not scratch lesions with fingers or scrub them vigorously; and refrain from sharing personal hygiene items. Maintaining proper skin hygiene is essential for rapid recovery.
