Introduction
A sore throat accompanied by a feeling of ear blockage may be caused by pharyngitis, laryngitis, or tonsillitis, which can affect the middle ear and Eustachian tube. In such cases, antibiotics should be used as prescribed to control the inflammation. If these conditions lead to pus accumulation in the middle ear or Eustachian tube, blocking the external auditory canal, topical ear drops are also needed in addition to antibiotics to manage local inflammation.

Feeling of ear blockage accompanied by sore throat may be caused by pharyngeal inflammation or complications arising from throat infections, and can be treated with medication.

If pathogens infect the upper respiratory tract, localized inflammatory infections such as pharyngitis, laryngitis, or tonsillitis may occur. Inflammation may spread to surrounding tissues, causing symptoms like swelling and congestion. If the middle ear or Eustachian tube is affected, patients may experience both sore throat and a sensation of blocked ears. Under medical guidance, antibiotics such as cefaclor or cefuroxime can typically be used to control the inflammatory response.

During acute episodes of conditions like tonsillitis, pharyngitis, or laryngitis, inflammation or even pus formation may occur in the middle ear and Eustachian tube. The accumulated pus may block the ear canal, leading to the sensation of ear blockage along with throat inflammation. In addition to antibiotics, topical treatment with ear drops is also necessary to manage local inflammation. Commonly used medications include ofloxacin and fluconazole.
