Introduction
Generally, side effects of calcium supplements may include gastrointestinal disturbances, increased risk of developing stones, and induction of hypertension. Excessive intake of calcium tablets may cause dry stools and affect the gastrointestinal tract. Over-supplementation with calcium can lead to diseases such as gallstones, kidney stones, and bladder stones. Elevated blood calcium levels in the body can easily result in calcium deposition in blood vessels.

Generally, side effects of calcium supplements may include gastrointestinal disturbances, increased risk of developing stones, and induction of hypertension.

1. Gastrointestinal effects: Calcium tablets are not easily digested and absorbed, and excessive intake may increase the burden on the gastrointestinal tract. Taking too much calcium may lead to dry stools or constipation. Therefore, long-term and high-dose calcium supplementation is not recommended, to avoid disrupting gastric homeostasis and triggering gastric disorders.

2. Increased risk of stone formation: The main component of stones is calcium oxalate. Excessive calcium intake may promote the development of gallstones, kidney stones, bladder stones, and other conditions. Therefore, if calcium deficiency exists, it's advisable to increase calcium levels through sunlight exposure and regular physical exercise. When necessary, calcium supplements should be taken regularly and appropriately under a doctor's guidance to prevent adverse effects on the body.

3. Induction of hypertension: After taking calcium supplements, blood calcium levels in the body may rise, potentially leading to calcium deposition in blood vessels, which could trigger hypertension and symptoms such as dizziness, headache, and nausea. It is advised not to take calcium supplements without medical supervision.
