Introduction
Drinking red wine does not necessarily lead to intoxication easily. Whether one gets drunk from red wine usually depends on individual alcohol tolerance, the amount consumed, and the alcohol concentration of the wine. Although red wine generally has a lower alcohol content, its alcohol level can still vary. Moderate consumption typically does not cause drunkenness. However, if a person has lower levels of the two enzymes responsible for alcohol metabolism, their alcohol tolerance will be relatively lower.

Everyone's physical constitution and bodily response to alcohol vary. If a person has higher levels of aldehyde dehydrogenase and alcohol dehydrogenase enzymes, alcohol can be broken down and metabolized more quickly in the body, resulting in a relatively higher alcohol tolerance. In such cases, moderate consumption of red wine may not lead to drunkenness. However, if these two enzymes are present in lower amounts, the individual's alcohol tolerance will be lower, and even a small amount of red wine may cause intoxication.

Red wine contains alcohol; therefore, consuming a large quantity within a short period may also lead to drunkenness. Drinking only a small amount typically does not result in intoxication. Although red wine generally has a lower alcohol concentration, its alcohol content varies, usually ranging between 8% and 16%. When the alcohol content is low, moderate drinking generally does not cause intoxication. However, when the alcohol concentration of the wine is high, even moderate consumption may lead to drunkenness.
