Why does my throat hurt after eating pomegranate?
Eating pomegranate and experiencing a sore throat may be due to an allergic reaction or pre-existing gastrointestinal conditions that are aggravated after eating, such as gastroenteritis or acute laryngitis. Once these conditions occur, symptomatic treatment should be administered according to medical advice.
1. Allergy: The aforementioned symptoms may result from an allergic reaction causing pain reflexes. After diagnosis, patients may follow medical guidance for drug treatment, such as moguiste granules or epinephrine hydrochloride injection.
2. Gastroenteritis: Gastroenteritis causing the above symptoms is usually due to the acidic nature of pomegranate juice irritating the gastric mucosa. Upon onset, patients should follow medical advice for pharmacological treatment, such as Clostridium butyricum and bifidobacterium live bacteria powder (CBP), or Bifidobacterium, Lactobacillus, and Streptococcus triple live bacteria tablets.
3. Acute Laryngitis: Symptoms caused by acute laryngitis may stem from viral or bacterial infections. In such cases, patients need to follow medical instructions for drug treatment, such as penicillin V potassium tablets or cefaclor enteric-coated tablets.
Besides the above-mentioned conditions, other diseases such as epiglottitis or the common cold may also cause similar discomfort, which requires prompt and active treatment.
