Steps of Traditional Chinese Medicine Small Needle Knife Therapy
Small needle knife therapy uses a metal instrument that resembles both a needle and a blade in shape, designed for acupuncture treatment. It involves a small incision that does not require suturing and causes minimal damage to body tissues. However, this treatment must be performed by trained professionals—do not attempt it on your own. The specific procedure is as follows:
1. The patient assumes the appropriate position under the doctor's guidance, such as sitting or lying supine.
2. The local skin is disinfected with alcohol, then wiped with iodine tincture, and finally deiodized with alcohol again.
3. The doctor puts on sterile gloves, confirms the puncture site, and marks it.
4. The blade edge of the needle knife is positioned perpendicular to its longitudinal axis. The doctor moves the needle forward and backward along the direction of muscle fibers or tendons to separate transversely adhered tissue fibers.
5. After completing the treatment, the needle knife is withdrawn and the area is locally dressed.
For certain treatment sites with relatively minor trauma, local massage may be performed to promote blood circulation and prevent postoperative bleeding and adhesions.
