Can you have sex 25 days after a miscarriage?
Sexual intercourse is generally not recommended 25 days after a miscarriage, as it may cause physical discomfort. The specific reasons are as follows:
A miscarriage typically involves using vacuum aspiration to remove embryonic tissue from the uterine cavity, thereby terminating the pregnancy. This procedure may cause damage to the endometrium (uterine lining), which usually takes about one month to heal. Therefore, sexual intercourse should generally be avoided 25 days after a miscarriage because the cervix may not have fully closed yet. Engaging in intercourse at this time could allow bacteria to enter the uterus, potentially leading to infections such as endometritis or myometritis, resulting in symptoms like abdominal pain, vaginal bleeding, and fever.
It is advisable to wait until at least 42 days after the miscarriage, and only resume sexual activity when there are no signs of discomfort. Appropriate contraceptive measures should also be taken to prevent early re-pregnancy.
