It is advisable to consume foods high in starch—such as crackers, steamed buns, or bread—before drinking soy milk. This allows the protein in soy milk to undergo enzymatic digestion with gastric juices in the presence of starch, facilitating better nutrient absorption. After drinking soy milk, eating some fruit is also beneficial, as soy milk is rich in iron and fruit can enhance the body's iron absorption.
