Introduction
Durian is a plant of the Malvaceae family and the genus Durio. It has a hard, spiky exterior, with soft, strongly aromatic pulp. Some people describe its flavor as sweet and creamy, while others avoid it due to its distinctive odor. It is rich in nutrients and can quickly replenish energy. The pulp is golden-yellow and tender, and can be eaten raw or is commonly processed into desserts such as ice cream and cake. However, it is important to be cautious about foods and medications that should not be consumed together with durian.

Generally, foods that should not be consumed with durian include white spirits, lychee, milk, fried chicken, and crab. Medications that should not be taken with durian include Captopril tablets, Atorvastatin Calcium tablets, Moclobemide tablets, Metronidazole tablets, and Warfarin Sodium tablets. Details are as follows:

I. Foods

1. White Spirits: Durian contains sulfur compounds that may inhibit the activity of aldehyde dehydrogenase in the liver, delaying alcohol metabolism and causing acetaldehyde accumulation. This may easily lead to nausea, dizziness, and palpitations.

2. Lychee: Durian itself is high in sugar content; consuming it together with other high-sugar fruits can significantly raise blood glucose levels, increasing metabolic burden. In the short term, this may cause drastic blood sugar fluctuations; in the long term, it may increase the risk of insulin resistance.

3. Milk: The high fiber and high caloric content of durian may slow digestion, and when combined with lactose, it may easily cause osmotic diarrhea. Lactose-intolerant individuals may experience bloating and diarrhea, while others may suffer from indigestion.

4. Fried Chicken: Durian has a high fat content; consuming it with other high-fat foods increases the burden on the digestive system. It may trigger acute pancreatitis or worsen symptoms in patients with gallbladder disease.

5. Crab: According to traditional Chinese medicine theory, durian is warming in nature, and consuming it with cold-natured foods may cause gastrointestinal temperature imbalance. This may lead to abdominal pain and diarrhea, especially noticeable in individuals with spleen and stomach deficiency-cold.

II. Medications

1. Captopril Tablets: Durian has a high potassium content, while such medications reduce the body's potassium excretion. Consuming them together increases blood potassium levels, which may easily cause hyperkalemia.

2. Atorvastatin: Sulfur compounds in durian may inhibit liver cytochrome enzymes, and the metabolism of such medications relies on these enzymes. Consuming them together increases the blood concentration of these medications in the body.

3. Moclobemide Tablets: Durian contains tyramine, and these medications irreversibly inhibit monoamine oxidase in the intestines and liver, preventing tyramine breakdown. Tyramine stimulates the release of large amounts of norepinephrine, causing an adrenergic crisis.

4. Metronidazole Tablets: The sulfur compounds in durian may inhibit aldehyde dehydrogenase, delaying alcohol metabolism. Consuming alcohol and durian during medication may trigger a disulfiram-like reaction, endangering health.

5. Warfarin Sodium Tablets: Warfarin interferes with the carboxylation of coagulation factors by inhibiting vitamin K epoxide reductase. Durian contains vitamin K, directly counteracting the effect of warfarin, thereby reducing its efficacy.

When consuming durian in daily life, one should avoid eating it with these foods. If undergoing medical treatment, one should avoid combining it with durian. If unsure whether certain foods can be consumed with durian, consult a professional physician to prevent adverse reactions.
