Introduction
Bad breath in infants may stem from the following causes: 1. Food-related odor—consumption of pungent or strongly flavored foods. 2. Putrid halitosis—resulting from poor oral hygiene habits. 3. Gingivitis or periodontitis—both can cause bad breath. 4. Digestive-dysfunction-related halitosis—caused by infantile indigestion, leading to the exhalation of foul odors originating from the gastrointestinal tract. 5. Purulent halitosis—due to nasal foreign bodies or ulceration with suppuration in the nasal cavity.

Foul breath (halitosis) in infants may stem from several causes: 1. **Food-related odor**: Consuming strongly aromatic foods—such as garlic or onions—can cause noticeable oral odor in infants, which may persist for several hours. 2. **Putrefactive halitosis**: Poor oral hygiene habits can lead to food debris becoming trapped between teeth and subsequently decomposing, resulting in unpleasant oral odor. In such cases, it is essential to maintain consistent twice-daily toothbrushing for the infant. Gingivitis or periodontitis may also contribute to halitosis.

       3. **Digestive-dysfunction-related halitosis**: Overconsumption of staple foods or fatty foods may impair digestion and produce foul-smelling breath, as gases emanating from the gastrointestinal tract are exhaled. 4. **Purulent halitosis**: This type commonly arises from nasal foreign bodies, sinusitis, or suppurative tonsillitis—conditions that cause ulceration and pus formation, thereby contributing to oral odor.
