Introduction
Vitamin B1 can be taken orally three times daily, or vitamin B12 may be administered via intramuscular injection to support nerve nutrition. The onset of herpes zoster is associated with decreased immune resistance but is unrelated to dietary intake. Avoid staying up late or overexertion. While there are no strict dietary restrictions, maintaining a balanced diet is important—emphasize easily digestible, fresh fruits and vegetables.

The onset of herpes zoster is associated with a decline in the body’s immune resistance. So, which vitamins are beneficial for herpes zoster?

Which vitamins are beneficial for herpes zoster?

Vitamin B1 and vitamin B12 may be taken to support nerve health. Herpes zoster is linked to reduced immune resistance but is not related to dietary intake.

Prevent colds, avoid staying up late or overexertion. Maintain a balanced diet, consume more easily digestible fresh fruits and vegetables, supplement vitamins appropriately, and include high-protein foods such as fish and eggs to enhance immune resistance.

Herpes zoster is caused by the varicella-zoster virus (VZV). Typically, this virus infects individuals via the respiratory tract during childhood, causing either chickenpox or an asymptomatic latent infection.

The virus then remains dormant in the dorsal root ganglia of sensory nerves. When immune resistance declines, the latent virus reactivates and travels along the affected nerve to its corresponding dermatome, resulting in erythema, vesicles, pain, and hypersensitivity in that skin region.

For pain relief, lidocaine ointment may be applied topically. The varicella-zoster virus is human herpesvirus type 3 (HHV-3). In Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), herpes zoster is termed “she pan chuang” (snake-coiling sore). We hope this article has been helpful to you!
