Can I exercise during a gout attack?
Disease description:
Recently, I have an important competition coming up, but I suffer from gout. May I ask: Is it safe to exercise during a gout flare-up?
Gout attacks cause joint and limb pain. During such episodes, it is advisable to avoid strenuous physical exercise or intense workouts. Patients should prioritize bed rest, minimize movement of the affected limbs, and ensure adequate warmth to prevent cold exposure. Applying heat packs to the affected joints, performing joint traction, physiotherapy, or gentle massage can effectively alleviate symptoms. Strenuous physical activity should be avoided to prevent symptom exacerbation and impairment of normal limb function.
