Cervical ectropion (previously termed “cervical erosion”) is a normal physiological phenomenon. If there are no specific clinical symptoms, no treatment is required, and it typically resolves spontaneously. The term “cervical erosion” is outdated and has long been replaced by the more accurate term “cervical ectropion,” which refers to the physiological displacement of columnar epithelium onto the ectocervix. Regular gynecological examinations are sufficient for monitoring. However, if abnormal vaginal discharge or an unusual odor is present, this may indicate a gynecological disorder, and medication—under a physician’s guidance—may be warranted.
