Symptoms such as nasal itching, sneezing, and runny nose may be caused by the common cold; over-the-counter cold medications may be taken. If symptoms do not improve, it is advisable to visit a reputable hospital for evaluation to determine whether allergic rhinitis is present. If allergic rhinitis is confirmed, it may result from exposure to allergens—such as dog dander or pollen—which commonly trigger allergic reactions. Once diagnosed with allergic rhinitis, antihistamines (e.g., Claritin®) may be used.
